New Release Wines

The latter part of 2022 has been a busy one for Derek and I, with lots of bottlings and vintage change overs. Our newest releases are in time for summer, the 2022 Cashmere Riesling and 2022 Linen Fiano. The 2022 Cashmere Riesling fruit comes from two growers either side of the town of Eden Valley, just ten minutes drive from our property. So delicious with SA calamari and chips! The 2022 Linen Fiano comes from a grower in Kersbrook which is just inside the Adelaide Hills zone from the Baros...

Vintage '22 Report

I finally have some time to look back at the '22 vintage and reflect on what ended up being a slow and steady vintage.Decent winter rains through 2021 meant the vines had good soil moisture which ensured a healthy start with a flourish of early growth. The very cool start to spring meant budburst was at least two weeks later than anticipated, leading to the chance that picking would be at least two weeks later than normal. In the strangely cool South Aussie summer, the vines just cruised along wi...

Another event cancelled.... you will just have to come and see us instead!

Derek and I just got the news today (and many of you on the mailing list would have too) that Cellar Door Fest, scheduled for 2 weeks time, is the latest victim of the Covid pandemic.Derek and I have already had to cancel our pop up store in Moonta so we are sad to have another event cancelled. But in good news, if you are travelling to the Barossa, we love to host guests for tastings here at our home, so go the Experience page on our website and book your tasting with us. Hopefully we'll s...

Spring Newsletter 2021

Newsletter Link - Click here read the newsletter on your browser  We started to write this newsletter a couple of days ago and the first line was about the sunny weather. Most of you would know that since that lovely sunny day, we have had a devastating hail and windstorm rip through parts of SA, including the Barossa. Things aren’t looking so great out in our vineyard now; it's scary what damage Mother Nature can do in about ten minutes. Fingers crossed the bunches that are bravely holdi...

Vintage 2021 is all wrapped up in a barrel or two

The 2021 vintage started way back in winter 2020 when we got good average rainfalls, for the first time in a few years. Derek was happy with how the baby vines were looking back in September when all the leaves started to uncurl. Our hopes for a bumper vintage got a bit of a scare mid-December when we had two days of unrelenting wind, with up to 100km gusts. Lots of leaves got blown off and we were worried that we had lost lots of our tiny Shiraz bunches. The baby vines, now two years old did no...

Vintage 2021

Vintage is in full swing here in the beautiful Barossa. I am sitting at my desk looking at the Road Block Shiraz vines which are due to be picked next week. Derek has been busy crushing and pressing the reds while overseeing our Riesling ferment at another facility. Yesterday he popped out to check out a couple of vineyards to see how the fruit was ripening.   Fiano is coming in later next week along with some Grenache and our Shiraz.  We'll be all finished by the early ...

Our latest release is here - 2020 Linen Fiano

Here is the brand new 2020 Linen Fiano. The fruit comes from the same Adelaide Hills vineyard near Kersbrook, that we got fruit for the 2018 Fiano. We are delighted with the wine in bottle - floral nose with lemon and lime citrus notes and a hint of stone fruit. The old French oak barrels we store half the Fiano in, really enhances the floral nose. Drink now for Summer with seafood or a chicken salad!...

Review for our latest release - 2020 Cashmere Riesling

Such a refreshing drink. Another reason why you need to ditch the Sauv Blanc and make Riesling your drink of spring and summer. A bucket of limes await you. A juicy wine where Kaffir lime leaf and lime juice running riot. A dab of fruit sweetness can be seen but the senses are whisked away by white flowers and bath salts which add a pretty perfume. Some chalky goodness to close but the fresh factor is hard to beat. Damn, this is clever stuff. Chill hard and fill your glasses to the brim.  D...

Paisley Wines Vintage 2020 News

Vintage 2020 to date is going really well for Paisley Wines - and we are pretty happy with this in light low yields across the Barossa. We are thankful that we managed to harvest 18 tonnes of Shiraz from our Angaston vineyard. We are excited to be introducing a new wine to the portfolio in 2020, the Cashmere Riesling. This Riesling comes from a small vineyard in Eden Valley, only about 15 minutes from our property. This will be released in around May this year - and it tastes fresh and deli...

Derek's (overdue) 2019 Vintage Report

With all the wines packed up and “put to bed (barrel)” for a rest, it is time to reflect on the 2019 Barossa Vintage. Overall it was quite warm and the crop levels were the lowest for some time. There was less than average rainfall in winter and spring, irrigation was very important to ensure that the vines stayed healthy and the fruit in good condition. In addition, nature has its own defence mechanism against drought. The soil moisture content was low all through winter and the vines knew ...

Newest review - 91 points for the 2017 Turntable GSM

91 points - 2017 Paisley Turntable GSM. Derek Fitzgerald says he is about the big “G” and the little “S” – and his new vintage blend is proof. It exemplifies the personality of Grenache in a bright and crunchy style. Refreshing acidity works in harmony with finely textured tannins, in this well-crafted, great value and friendly quaffer.
